Common questions
Questions about A-level & GCSE tuition
Which exam boards do you cover?
Lessons follow the student’s own exam board and specification (for example AQA, Edexcel/Pearson or OCR). As a one-to-one tutor, teaching is matched to the exact syllabus and past papers the student sits.
Do you teach online, at home, or in person?
All three, at the same hourly rate: at the tutor’s address in Harrow, at the student’s home by arrangement, or online anywhere in the UK.
How much does tuition cost?
A-level Mathematics and Physics is £70 per hour. GCSE Mathematics and Sciences is £55 per hour. The rate is the same for in-person, home-visit and online lessons.
How are lessons structured?
Teaching begins by marking the student’s work to pinpoint the exact gaps, then follows a plan built around clear explanation, focused practice and steady exam preparation with the same tutor throughout.
Which areas do you cover?
Harrow and the surrounding North-West London areas — including Pinner, Stanmore, Kenton, Wembley, Northwood and Ruislip — plus online tuition across the UK.
How many hours of tutoring are needed?
It depends on the student’s starting point and goal. Many students have weekly lessons across a term or year; the right frequency is agreed after the first assessment.
Do you tutor GCSE resits?
Yes. GCSE Maths resit students are welcome, with lessons focused on the specific topics and exam technique needed for the November or summer papers.
Do you teach both Maths and Physics?
Yes. The same tutor, Nimal, teaches A-level Mathematics and Physics as well as GCSE Mathematics and Sciences. Because one tutor covers both, the mathematics that A-level Physics depends on is taught by someone who uses it in both subjects.
What are the tutor’s qualifications and experience?
Nimal holds a B.Sc. (Hons) and an M.Sc. from King’s College, University of London, and has taught mathematics and physics in London for more than 30 years.
Is one-to-one tutoring better than group classes?
One-to-one lessons are tailored to a single student: the tutor marks that student’s own work, targets their exact gaps, and adjusts the pace lesson by lesson — with the same tutor throughout, so nothing is lost between sessions.
